Lodging
The Laurel Inn
We recommend the Laurel Inn, a midcentury boutique JDV by Hyatt hotel for your stay in San Francisco. We have arranged a group block with a discount (code 134015 should automatically apply when using the link above). The Laurel Inn is a quick 6 minute drive from the venue through the beautiful Presidio and has onsite parking and a great cocktail bar, The Laurette.
Recommended Neighborhood
If you have a favorite hotel loyalty, we recommend locations in the Ghirardelli Square area which is a short Lyft or Waymo ride over to the venue and other events during the wedding weekend.
The Inn and Lodge at the Presidio
If you are interested in staying at either of the onsite hotels, the Inn at the Presidio or the Lodge at the Presidio, please contact us and we will arrange your booking. These hotels are jointly-operated and require a coordinated booking for wedding groups. Please do not book directly on your own. Check rates here: Inn and Lodge.
Airports & Transit
San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
SFO is the closest airport to the city. Transit via BART is a great option if you’re staying near downtown SF. If you’re staying on the north side of the city closer to our venue, we recommend Taxi or rideshare from the airport.
Oakland International Airport (OAK)
Though slightly further away, Oakland airport is still a great option and may be better depending on where you are traveling from. Plus, landing across the Bay gives you an amazing, welcoming, view of the skyline, provided Karl isn’t in town. Transit via BART is a great option if you’re staying near downtown SF. If you’re staying on the north side of the city closer to our venue, we recommend taking a rideshare or taking BART to downtown SF and transferring to a rideshare.
We recommend using Google Maps for transit directions.
Lyft & Waymo
Lyft
One of the original ride-sharing services and one that started right here in SF, Lyft is our favorite option for a quick and easy way to get around.
Waymo
Feeling a bit more adventurous? We highly recommend taking an autonomous ride in a Waymo during your visit. Though slightly more than a typical rideshare, the lux EV cars and elevated service are well worth it.
Parking
Spark Social Welcome Party
There is metered parking on nearby streets and paid parking lots near Spark Social. More details at their FAQ Page.
Presidio Officers’ Club Ceremony & Reception
There is paid parking at the venue and front door drop off for those who need to limit walking distance. Details on how to pay can be found on the Presidio’s website.
Tunnel Tops Farewell Park Hang
The same Presidio parking system applies at this location as well
about
The Presido
Nestled at the edge of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Presidio is one of San Francisco’s most historic and picturesque places. Operated for more than 200 years as a military fort under 3 different nations, it was active as a US military post until its closure which was announced in the late 1980s and complete by the early 1990s.
Initially, the land was to be sold off for private development but thanks to the leadership of Nancy Pelosi, then a rank-and-file congresswoman representing San Francisco in the House, and with bipartisan support from Republicans like Representative Ralph Regula and Senator Bob Dole, the Presidio was re-established as a National Park and a nature preserve.
The Presidio is a beloved destination for visitors and locals alike with its sweeping views, towering eucalyptus and cypress trees, and historic architecture. The Presidio Officers’ Club, where our ceremony and reception will take place, includes portions of original adobe structure built in 1776. It is the oldest structure in the Presidio and the second oldest structure in all of San Francisco.
Other landmarks within the Presidio that we recommend visiting are:
Lover’s Lane - a trail established in the 19th century as a shortcut used by U.S soldiers to visit their sweethearts downtown. But you can’t go wrong with any of the paths in the Presidio’s extensive trail network.
Tunnel Tops Park - a 2022 addition to the Presidio built over the freeway onramps to the Golden Gate Bridge that creating the first connection from the Main Post to the beach below.
Palace of Fine Arts - a stunning Greco-Roman open-air rotunda originally built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition. The monument and its surrounding, complete with a Swan pond, has been accused of being the most instagrammable spot in SF.
Crissy Field Marsh & Walking Path - an expansive walking trail along the beach offering the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge and many sightings of good dogs.
